For nearly two decades, my journey in regenerative medicine has been a constant search for innovation. It began in 2006, when I was deeply involved in creating Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) kits. That experience taught me the power of harnessing the body’s own healing mechanisms. However, I always knew there was more to discover. When I first learned about the advanced stem cell therapies being used by figures like Kim Kardashian, my curiosity was piqued. The challenge? Those products were manufactured overseas, making them incredibly difficult to access.
For years, I sought a US-based manufacturer that could produce a superior regenerative product. Finally, around Thanksgiving of 2025, that search came to fruition. A manufacturing company in Florida began producing a new type of stem cell right here in the United States: Multilineage-differentiating Stress-Enduring (Muse) cells.
Since then, my team and I have been part of a “VIP founding members circle” of physicians, exploring the clinical applications of Muse cells. After nearly nine months of hands-on experience and countless conversations with fellow practitioners, the most common word I hear to describe the results is “Godsend.” This is a term I haven’t heard with such frequency since the early, exciting days of PRP. It signifies a profound shift in what we can offer our patients.
Muse cells are not a new invention but rather a recent discovery that has been extensively studied in Japan, with over 200 published papers. They were identified by Dr. Mari Dezawa’s team at Tohoku University.
So, what makes them so special?
As a clinician, seeing the SSEA-3 verification on every vial provides an unparalleled level of confidence. We know exactly what we are administering to our patients, which is a level of quality control that is often lacking with other regenerative products.
To truly appreciate the breakthrough that Muse cells represent, it’s helpful to compare them directly to the standard MSCs that have been the workhorse of regenerative medicine for years.

One of the most significant advantages of Muse cells is their size. At 8–15 micrometers, they are roughly half the size of standard MSCs (15–25 micrometers). This might seem like a small detail, but it has massive implications for intravenous (IV) therapy.
When MSCs are administered intravenously, their larger size causes many of them to get trapped in the fine capillaries of the lungs—an effect known as the pulmonary first-pass effect. It’s like trying to push a golf ball through a garden hose. A large portion of the therapeutic cells never reaches the intended target.
Muse cells, on the other hand, are small enough to pass through the pulmonary capillary bed easily. This is like pushing a marble through a garden hose. They can circulate freely throughout the body and home in on sites of injury, no matter where they are located. This is why they are so effective for systemic conditions and for reaching organs like the brain, heart, and liver.
Another fundamental difference lies in their differentiation potential. For years, we have used multipotent MSCs. This means they can differentiate into cells of the mesodermal lineage—bone, cartilage, muscle, and fat. This makes them excellent for musculoskeletal applications.
However, Muse cells are pluripotent. This means they can differentiate into cells from all three primary germ layers:
This tri-lineage potential opens the door to treating a much wider array of conditions. Whether a patient is dealing with a neurodegenerative issue (ectoderm), a joint injury (mesoderm), or a liver condition (endoderm), Muse cells have the innate ability to repair and replace the specific damaged cells.
The remarkable efficacy of Muse cells can be attributed to a powerful “three-engine” system that combines targeted delivery, direct tissue replacement, and enhanced signaling.
Muse cells possess a natural and highly efficient homing mechanism. Damaged or inflamed tissues release a signaling molecule called sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P). Muse cells are covered in S1P2 receptors, which act like a guidance system.
Think of it as a heat-seeking missile. The S1P released by the damaged tissue is the “heat signature,” and the Muse cells are drawn directly to it. This biological GPS ensures that the cells don’t just wander but travel precisely to where they are needed most. In animal models of cardiac injury, studies have shown that 14.5% of IV-administered Muse cells engrafted directly into the damaged heart tissue. In contrast, zero standard MSCs made it there; they were all trapped in the lungs. This active homing is a biological process, not a technological one. We provide the body with the right tools, and its innate intelligence does the work.
Once Muse cells arrive at the site of injury, they do something extraordinary. They spontaneously differentiate into the exact type of cell that was damaged. They don’t need to be externally programmed. They “scan” the damaged cells, essentially copying their transcription factors, and then transform to replace them.

Like other stem cells, Muse cells exert a powerful paracrine effect. They release a cocktail of anti-inflammatory cytokines, growth factors, and other signaling molecules that orchestrate the healing environment. These signals help to:
However, because Muse cells are derived from a pluripotent parent cell and are incredibly resilient, their paracrine signaling is more robust and sustained, especially in the hostile environment of an injury.
While the science is compelling, the true test is in clinical outcomes. In my practice, I have seen remarkable results, particularly in patients who have not responded to other treatments. I often advise my colleagues to start with their most challenging cases—the patients who have tried PRP, standard MSCs, and exosomes without success. The results often speak for themselves.
Perhaps the most astonishing evidence comes from a recent human case study on biological age reversal. This is the first published evidence showing that Muse cell therapy can produce measurable, multi-organ age reversal.
