In this educational post, I will take you on a journey through the evolving landscape of modern healthcare, focusing on personal injury (PI) patient acquisition, the burgeoning field of telehealth, and the power of an integrative, patient-centered model of care. From my perspective as a clinician with a diverse background in chiropractic, nursing, and functional medicine, I will share insights from my clinical experience at Injury Medical Clinic PA in El Paso, Texas. I will present a clear, first-person overview of how our multidisciplinary team integrates chiropractic care, internal medicine oversight, functional medicine, and rehabilitation, showcasing the latest evidence-based findings from leading researchers. We will delve into the complexities of modern patient acquisition, the ethical considerations surrounding digital marketing, the strategic integration of telehealth services, and the powerful synergy created when chiropractic care, medical oversight, functional medicine, and rehabilitation are unified under one roof. This discussion highlights our multidisciplinary approach, where my work is supported by our Medical Director and Collaborative Physician, Dr. Maria Guadalupe Cardenas, MD, an internist with over 40 years of experience. We will explore the physiological underpinnings of personal injuries, explain the practical protocols we employ, and demonstrate how we leverage advanced, evidence-based methods to provide comprehensive care that addresses the whole person, not just their symptoms.
Welcome. I’m Dr. Alex Jimenez. My career has been a long and varied journey dedicated to a singular goal: providing the most comprehensive and effective care possible. With my background as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification (FNP-BC), and advanced credentials in functional medicine (CFMP, IFMCP), among others, I bring a multifaceted perspective to patient health. At my practice, Injury Medical Clinic PA (also known as Mission Plaza Injury Medical Clinic), here on the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, we have built a unique, multidisciplinary team to achieve this vision of integrated care.
A cornerstone of our practice is our collaborative structure. I work alongside Dr. Maria Guadalupe Cardenas, MD, a highly respected, board-certified Internist with over four decades of clinical experience. As our Medical Director and Collaborative Physician (NPI #1164426749, Texas MD License #J2933), Dr. Cardenas provides essential medical oversight, allowing us to blend medical and chiropractic care under one roof seamlessly. This multidisciplinary setup, common in leading-edge injury and wellness clinics, is fundamental to our philosophy. It allows us to merge the best of chiropractic care, functional medicine, and traditional internal medicine, ensuring that our treatment plans are not only effective but also medically sound and safe for every patient.
Our clinic is an expansive, 20,000-square-foot facility complete with a full-scale gym and fitness center. We are equipped to manage a high volume of patients, currently seeing just under 400 individuals per week. Our team includes multiple chiropractors, a robust support staff, and we handle a wide array of cases, from personal injury (PI) and workers’ compensation to functional medicine and wellness care. This structure reflects a highly effective model where a physician provides medical direction while a chiropractor leads biomechanical diagnosis, manual therapy, and rehabilitative care. The combination lets us coordinate imaging, labs, medications (when necessary), and conservative therapies under one roof, creating a seamless and holistic healing journey for our patients.
As a healthcare provider dedicated to serving my community, I am always looking for legitimate and effective ways to connect with individuals who can benefit from our unique approach. My interest in helping personal injury patients goes back nearly two decades. In the early days, the methods for connecting with accident victims were very different, often involving reviewing accident reports. However, the legal and ethical landscape has shifted dramatically. Today, direct solicitation by healthcare providers is heavily regulated, and for this reason, I no longer engage in those older methods. Upholding the highest ethical standards is non-negotiable for me, my team, and my son, who is also a nurse practitioner.
The world has changed. The free market and digital technology have created new, sophisticated avenues for communication. While I am open to innovative methods, they must be unequivocally legitimate and compliant. The core principle must be that the patient initiates the contact. Recently, I explored a modern approach that leverages digital advertising to connect with individuals recently involved in accidents. The technology behind this is fascinating, relying on advanced algorithms and language pattern recognition to identify individuals likely discussing or searching for information related to a recent motor vehicle accident. Here’s a breakdown of how this evidence-based digital outreach works:
This initial digital screening is crucial. It gathers critical information before we ever speak to them, including:
This rigorous pre-qualification ensures we are fully prepared for their first visit and confirms they are a suitable candidate for our personal injury program. This process is aggressive by design to protect the valuable time of my front-desk staff, allowing them to focus on patients who truly need our help.
The process of guiding a patient from their initial inquiry to active treatment is a meticulously engineered journey. We have moved beyond outdated methods to a system that honors each person’s unique path.
When an individual contacts us, the process begins immediately.
My philosophy is to embrace every effective, managed, and controlled method available. As long as a system is not sloppy and connects us with those in need, it has a place in our strategy. On July 12, 2026, I coordinated onboarding with a partner team to streamline our digital scheduling, communication, and patient intake—aiming to “pack the calendar down” with high-quality patient encounters. Efficiency supports better care.
In patient management, terminology matters. I adhere to a strict protocol derived from proven sales and marketing principles.
This distinction is fundamental. Our attrition rate is naturally higher during the “lead” phase. However, once a person becomes a “contact,” our attrition rate plummets. The hardest part is over. They have committed to seek help, and our job is to make the rest of their journey as easy and effective as possible.
In modern healthcare, the quality of the patient relationship sets a practice apart. Once a patient is in our office, our entire focus shifts to building a genuine, lasting relationship. You are no longer just a name in a system; you have a face, a story, and a problem we are committed to solving. This relationship-centric model is how we outperform others. When a patient feels seen, heard, and cared for, they are more likely to adhere to their treatment plan and achieve better outcomes. The value we provide is not just in the treatment itself, but in the trust and rapport we build.
To reach the people of El Paso, we employ a sophisticated, multi-pronged outreach strategy. I believe in building a robust, resilient presence across multiple channels.
For years, I have meticulously built a powerful online presence through Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We have developed multiple websites rich with high-quality, authoritative content. My multidisciplinary background allows me to create content that is far more comprehensive than what a typical chiropractic office might produce. This deep content library has positioned us perfectly for the shift toward AI-driven search. When a user asks a complex question to an AI like ChatGPT or Grok, our detailed, evidence-based content helps us rank in the top results. We are winning the battle for educated, intuitive consumer trust.
While SEO is our long-term foundation, I also recognize the power of targeted paid advertising. I have transitioned from complex platforms like Salesforce to more agile systems like GoHighLevel, which is better suited for digital marketing. We partner with specialized groups to manage our campaigns. For example, one group handles our general chiropractic campaigns, which have significantly increased our new patient inquiries. However, personal injury (PI) advertising is a unique niche requiring different expertise. By partnering with specialists who understand the PI market, we can create highly effective campaigns that speak directly to accident victims. I am not in the business of running Facebook ads; I am in the business of healing patients. I provide the budget and the vision, and I trust skilled professionals to execute it.
Once a patient is scheduled, they step into our integrated care ecosystem. A personal injury is a complex cascade of physiological insults affecting multiple body systems. A singular approach is insufficient, which is why our integrated model is so effective.
Consider a common injury like whiplash-associated disorder (WAD). The sudden acceleration-deceleration force damages more than just muscles.
We choose therapies that specifically modulate these systems: manual techniques for joint and fascial input, neuromuscular training for motor patterns, and lifestyle strategies to reduce inflammatory tone.
Our integrative approach rests on three pillars: evidence-based manual care, functional medicine insight, and comprehensive rehabilitation.
Integrated, these strategies transform short-term relief into long-term resilience.
Based on my clinical experience, which I regularly discuss on my website and LinkedIn, several patterns are consistent:
These observations align with the broader literature on neuromuscular and fascial integration and inform our protocols.
My journey in healthcare has been one of continuous adaptation. As a clinician licensed in multiple states—including California, New York, and Florida—I explored telehealth to expand my reach. I discovered that many platforms have integrated medical networks, allowing practitioners to consult with patients across state lines under appropriate legal frameworks. This was a revelation.
One of the most exciting areas is managing metabolic health, including weight loss programs using GLP-1 agonists (like semaglutide) and other peptide therapies, combined with functional medicine principles. However, compliance is paramount. My search for a telehealth partner has been extensive, focusing on:
Chiropractic care fits perfectly into this model. As patients lose weight, their biomechanics change. Chiropractic adjustments can manage associated aches, improve mobility, and make physical activity more comfortable. Furthermore, by ensuring proper spinal alignment, chiropractic care supports the nervous system’s regulation of metabolism and hormonal balance, creating a synergistic effect that enhances medical and pharmacological interventions overseen by Dr. Cardenas.
Understanding the economics of patient acquisition is essential. Our partners in digital marketing aim for a Cost Per Case between $175 and $350. This is a reasonable figure given the Lifetime Value (LTV) of a patient, allowing us to achieve a substantial return on investment and help more people.
In Texas, the chiropractic profession is governed by strict ethical rules, which I take very seriously. We will never “steal” a patient or badmouth another practitioner. Our marketing is informative, not aggressive. While I am confident that my multidisciplinary qualifications offer a superior level of care, we will never make explicit claims of being “the best” in our advertising. Our reputation, built over decades of seeing more than 150,000 patients in the El Paso area, speaks for itself.
The strategiesI’vee shared represent the forefront of modern healthcare, where digital marketing, data analysis, and advanced technology are essential components of patient care. Our clinic model blends medical oversight with chiropractic expertise, functional medicine, and rehabilitation. By aligning medical diagnostics with conservative care and personalized rehab, patients can move beyond injury toward resilient health. The partnership between my expertise and Dr. Cardenas’s medical direction allows us to offer a level of care that is both broad in scope and deep in its specialization. The journey is complex, but the potential to change lives makes it all worthwhile.
