A good massage is one of life’s little pleasures. Sure you could go to school for massage therapy, or you could keep reading this article to find out more about how you can give your partner the best massage they’ve ever had. Now is the time to get started!

Massage Tips & Ideas

Use your thumbs when massaging someone. This is a strong tool you can use to help stimulate muscle therapy. But you should never push too hard. You don’t want to hurt the person on the receiving end of the massage.

Use your thumbs when giving a massage. Your thumbs are stronger than your other fingers, and using them will add extra stimulation to the massage. Don’t overdo it, though, as you could hurt the recipient.

When you want to find a masseuse, remember to only used licensed personnel. A licensed individual knows what they are doing and should be able to address any issues that you have. Using a licensed masseuse means that you are working with a professional that is well thought of in the industry.

When you give a massage, use scented candles. This lights the room dimly while adding aromatherapy. When you add this thoughtful touch to your skilled massage, you are creating an excellent relaxation experience.

When starting a massage, create an environment that is quiet and relaxing. If you are located in a high traffic area, consider playing soft music in the background. This will help your level of relaxation during the process. That’s why it’s important to select the right venue at the right time for the best results. You’ll be glad you did.

Always get there early when you are scheduled for a massage. Make sure that your massage is a priority during your day. You won’t be able to properly relax if you are late. You really must strive to be relaxed from the outset.

Deep tissue therapy is a great option if you have some injuries. Motions that are slow and full of friction are used against the grain of the muscles. This ensures the muscles loosen and get enough blood.

When starting a massage, create an environment that is quiet and relaxing. It’s hard to relax when there’s a lot of outside noise. A massage is something that can be very relaxing. That’s why it’s important to select the right venue at the right time for the best results. You should consider investing in a better insulation to cancel noises from outside.

Give your feet a personal massage, without the help of a therapist. First, simply put your foot on a tennis or golf ball and roll it across the ground. Roll the ball under your foot from one side to the other and from the toes to the heel. Pay special attention to the arch of your foot because it is more sensitive and needs extra stretching and strengthening to stay strong.

If you’re getting a massage, see to it that you had a light meal beforehand. You can get uncomfortable if you eat too much. Eat a well-balanced meal and wait a few hours before getting a massage so that you do not feel uncomfortable when laying down on your abdomen.

Talk about your problem areas with your therapist when you arrive. A massage is intended to sort out your problem areas. Letting your massage therapist know about problem areas will ensure that they can pay special attention to those areas.

Don’t fear questions when you have a massage done. It is ok to ask the pro a question! Your massueuse will be happy to answer any concerns that you might have. Their goal is to make you as comfortable as they can, so ask anything you need to know.

If you usually schedule full body massages, wash your feet thoroughly before going. Your feet are covered in bacteria, and your massage therapist might help bacteria spread to other parts of your body since the full body massage usually begins with the feet. Just clean them before, and you will be much safer.

It is of the utmost importance that you are relaxed while receiving a massage. Just let stress go and breathe deeply. Anytime you begin to feel yourself tense up, do some deep breathing exercises until the feeling passes.

If you aren’t sure what type of massage you should get, choose either a deep tissue or Swedish massage. Depending on your tolerance, there are a multitude of options available. These two types of massages are perfect for beginners.

Before choosing any massage therapist, read reviews on them. It is important to find out how others have responded to their massage if you want to avoid a potentially painful experience. Look for independent reviews to ensure honesty.

Take the time to inspect your body before massaging it. Divide the work of massage evenly between fingers, thumbs, palms and the heel of your hand. When you reach a bone, try to avoid it. If the areas are curvy, your fingers are great tools to massage out any kinks.

Ask for lower lights when you get a message. A darker space will help you relax, and that’s the whole point of you being there! The room doesn’t have to be pitch black, but it shouldn’t be bright at all.

Be on time for your massage appointment. While relaxing is what a massage is about, you shouldn’t show up when you feel like it. Massage therapists are busy, and it’s not fair to them if you throw them off schedule.

When massaging someone try to remain quiet. You don’t want to have a masseuse either that is talking your head off during a massage. Sound should be limited to soft music or nature calls. Beyond that, you want to operate in silence.

Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion while receiving a massage. If there is an area you want your therapist to focus heavily on, let her know. If she can’t relieve your knots and tension the massage will not be successful – speak up!

Use your hands to heat the massage oil before spreading it on the body. Cold oils do not feel good on the skin, and the massage will not get off to the best start. The oil needs to instead be placed on the hands and then the hands should be rubbed together. That friction will heat up the oil.

Be open with your therapist about all of your medical conditions before you start. Tell him or her if you’re with child, as well. The more your therapist knows about your body, the more he or she will be able to make a plan for the most effective treatment. If information is omitted, complications could ensue.

Combine massage techniques if you have an injury and need major therapy. Visiting a chiropractor, physical therapist or an acupuncturist can be helpful. These activities are great together since they both take care of various needs of the nerve endings, bones, and muscles. These therapies can decrease healing time, allowing you to get back on the field faster.

Give your therapist a tip after your massage. Understand that massage therapists earn most of their money on tips, so they will be very appreciated. A standard tip is about 15%, but you can always leave more based on exceptional service, or nothing if had to suffer through the experience. You can even give a larger tip if you are happy with the massage. This will benefit you in the end, too. You’ll get amazing massages in the future, too.

Make sure your hands have been warmed prior to giving a massage. Your hands should be warm, as a cold touch will increase tension. A good way to prep your hands is by rubbing your hands together with a massage lotion before you begin.

Rub the oil between your hands to warm it up before applying it to the skin. You can warm the oil up simply by rubbing your hands together. This creates a much more comfortable, soothing massage. The oil needs to instead be placed on the hands and then the hands should be rubbed together. That friction will heat up the oil.

Always tip your masseuse! A masseuse is a service worker, so they make a majority of their living from tips. Tip between fifteen to twenty percent. If you’re really happy with the massage, tip near the higher amount, and if you were unhappy with the massage, tip towards the lower end.

Now you have some helpful tips when it comes to massage. Continue building upon your foundational knowledge about massage, in order to expand your horizons and your skill set. Practice your skills on someone to show what you can really do.

When you want to massage the dog, keep pressure to a minimum. This could be painful for your dog and could even cause damage. You should be focused on the body language of your pet. If you sense that he is uncomfortable, stop immediately.
